Environmental Policy
As a responsible corporate citizen, the group complies with all legal requirements. As a market leader it also seeks to operate a proactive environmental policy, investing every year to protect people, nature and the environment, applying stricter standards than those required by law. For SIOEN, care for the environment is a constant concern.
Not because it is 'in', but because the environment and safety are close to our hearts. Our company slogan for many years now has been 'Protection through innovation'. We produce products that protect human beings, their environment and their possessions and do so in an environmentally friendly way.
SIOEN invests in a sustainable society. In business processes and relationships, SIOEN Industries strives to preserve and improve the global environment through a pro-active environmental policy. EN ISO 14001 (Environmental management systems) is used as a guidance reference.
Electricity generation
The new extension at Ardooie (Veranneman production hall plus storage warehouse) is fitted with electricity generating solar panels.
Basic requirements
SIOEN Industries acts in accordance with local environmental laws and regulations at all production plants to prevent environmental degradation. In addition, we adhere to relevant international conventions and respect international standards. At all production plants of the group, SIOEN Industries goes beyond what is legally required. From a supplier point of view, at the very least, they must meet all relevant local and national environmental regulations
Investments
Internal and external environmental audits are done on a regular basis. We have a team of experts who provide specialist environmental help and guidance to all our production plants on issues such as emissions, waste disposal and recycling. SIOEN Industries has invested and will continue to invest in the limiting of harmful emissions and energy saving and recovery techniques.
Proactive sustainable product development
In addition to the legal requirements regarding raw materials (REACH, etc…), we are very selective on materials and suppliers used for new products to limit the ecological footprint of our garments or to guarantee the innocuousness of the materials to the user (EN 340, Ökotex 100, …) .
Resources and energy
We promote the efficient use and reuse of natural resources and energy and use forms of energy that minimize the environmental impacts (CO2 footprint, water, waste, exhaust air, etc…) of our operations. EN ISO 14001 and EN 16001 (Energy Management Systems) are used as management guidance references.
Recycling
We strive to keep waste materials to a minimum and to reduce, recycle and where necessary dispose of waste by the safest and most responsible means available to reduce environmental impact. We strive for sustainable recycling where resources are wisely used and waste minimized. Therefore we continuously introduce new technologies in all our plants.
Sponsorship
A save and healthy environment is everybody’s concern, SIOEN Industries sponsors and helps on a regular basis scientific researchers in the field of nature preservation. A recent example is an observation rig for scientific research in the rain forests.
